The Co-op program at Drexel was one of the main reasons my son chose the school. It has been a disappointment so far. The first Co-op for spring-summer did happen for him so happy he had something when others had their cancelled during the height of the pandemic but he did not get many offers. His first one was unpaid and not very interesting but he has a possibly published paper with his name on it. His advisor reassured him that a first Co-op sets the stage for better offers the next time around. It was totally the opposite for this spring/summer. He got very few responses. Some places responded but did not ever get back to him about an interview. In the end he chose not to take another uninteresting and unpaid offer - the only one he had and is taking classes instead. The school offered this to students because of the negative impact on Co-op opportunities during this time but if anyone decides to do this be aware there are other complications around financial aid and other issues which were not clearly explained. I just hope his delayed Co-op, whenever that will be might offer more opportunities.
