Cabrini Cavaliers can become Drexel Dragons starting in fall 2023 as the Cabrini-Drexel Pathway rolls out benefits to support students from Cabrini University as they consider the next step in their college careers.

Cabrini, a private Roman Catholic university in Radnor Township, Penn., is closing at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year. To support students who may not know where to turn for their education after Cabrini closes, Drexel has developed a streamlined transfer process and tuition discount, along with other benefits, to help them stay on track.

“As an anchor institution for the Philadelphia area, Drexel University holds a deep connection to the surrounding region and is committed to helping aspiring learners throughout our area,” said Subir Sahu, PhD, interim senior vice president for enrollment management and senior vice president for student success. “When we learned of Cabrini University’s situation and realized how this resulting period of transition would affect its students, we felt that it was vitally important that Drexel quickly develop new support structures and resources to ensure these students have the ability and opportunity to stay on track and achieve their educational goals.”

The support structure is built around a renewable 50 percent tuition scholarship for students transferring in on a full-time basis, a dedicated transfer counselor who will work one-on-one with each student to ensure a smooth transition, an accelerated transfer credit evaluation, waived application fees and special campus visit opportunities.

Incoming first-year students are not eligible for the 50 percent tuition scholarship, but their Drexel application fees will be waived. These students can apply for the Winter Entry Program, which will allow them to begin in winter quarter and keep pace with their peers who began classes the previous fall. The admissions team will work with students who request to start taking classes in fall term as well.

The Cabrini-Drexel Pathway is available to undergraduate students who were enrolled at Cabrini beginning in the spring semester of 2023 through fall 2024. If admitted, students must maintain full-time enrollment to keep their 50 percent scholarship.

“Drexel’s dynamic curriculum combines world-class academics with real-world experience, allowing students to fully develop their professional skills while preparing them to make an impact within their chosen field,” Sahu said. “The University has a longstanding history of supporting transfer students, with hundreds of new Dragons arriving on campus each year via our transfer application process.”

Cabrini students who are interested in becoming Drexel Dragons can visit the Cabrini-Drexel Pathway page or get in touch with Drexel’s Admissions team.
